Heres a picture of Deb Puerinis apparatus for the vacuum deairing of the gel goop that is used for making gel candles. Little did I realize that this cottage industry was in a state of crisis due to unsightly air bubbles.
A small bell jar serves as the vessel in which the molten gel is deaired. Pressure is controlled with a pinch clamp on the vent and pressure measurement is with a simple dial gauge. A small two-stage rotary vane pump provides the vacuum.
The apparatus has been nicknamed the Boyles Bubble Buster or BBB.
